Swn Festival will be returning this year from 17-20 October. The first announcement of acts has just been announced and it looks like it’s going to be another stormer!
Last night Gruff Rhys performed his latest album Babelsberg accompanied by the BBC National Orchestra. We were there to capture the performance for Festival of Voice.
Gruff delivered a great performance as per usual and was joined on stage by Stephen Black (Sweet Baboo), Kliph Scurlock, Osian Gwynedd, Lisa Jên and Mirain Haf.
1, 2 KUNG FU is finally out on Heavenly Records. It’s been a joy to contribute to the campaign for one of the best albums we’ve had the luck to listen to. Below is a video we made for the first song on the album, it’s actually the first song we heard at the start of 2017 and the beginning of our undying love for Boy Azooga. It was all shot on Super 8 with very little editing.
Last night the Festival of Voice kicked off in style with a drinks reception and the launch of ‘The Hub’, a space uniquely designed as an immersive meeting point to be utilized between shows at the WMC. There’s incredible local street food, live music, DJs and opportunities to learn more about what we are all here for – voice and music.
Today sees the launch of Festival of Voice, Cardiff’s Biennial International Arts Festival. We’ll be following the festival closely either filming or in attendance whilst sharing our festival recommendations and reviews here on the blog.
Our very own Toby Cameron has been selected to join the BBC Wales New Documentary Directors’ Initiative
Another month, another edition of our Creative Coffee Break newsletter.
This month we’ve shared our latest edition of Lost Industry which features Hiut Denim, Too Good To Go, a new app tackling food waste along with the films and music we’re raving about at the moment.
We made this short about Hiut Denim Co. for the latest instalment of our Lost Industry series. They’ve been making headlines around the world for some time. Members of our team have been proud wearers of the Cardigan made jeans for some time. Check out their story and then go buy a pair!
So we got to be involved with the new Arctic Monkeys music video, which was an absolute treat. Our contribution was minimal, but still, it was a pleasure. Also, we got to shoot on film for the first time ever which was a dream come true. Thanks, Domino Recording Company for inviting us along for the journey.
A year ago we shot the Loner Boogie video with Boy Azooga in Cardiff Transport Club and tonight they’re performing live on Later with Jools Holland. It’s been a crazy journey but it’s only the start. We’ll be in the TV audience watching with a massive smile on our faces.
The one and only Don Leisure (Darkhouse Family) joins us for a night of weird, wonderful and rare records. The Don has also handpicked some of the most out-there films from his own collection.
Yesterday we headed to sunny Sheffield, where we shot a short doc for Arctic Monkeys and Domino Records. The doc will follow the pop-up shop which accompanied the launch of the Arctic Monkeys latest album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. A edit to follow in the coming weeks.
PSYCHY FRUIT! We did another music video for the delicious Sock. If you like weird close-ups of fruit and/or have a bit of a foot fetish you’ll love it. It’s the latest single from their debut album Fresh Bits.
HAT TRICK! Another music video for our favourite collaborators Boy Azooga. Big thanks to Cardiff Dogs Home for letting us come down and shoot this vid with some of their pups. Both dogs featured (Bander and Winston) have now been rehomed if you were wondering.
We’ve had a great response to our new look newsletter The Creative Coffee Break.
Each instalment will bring a creative insight into what’s currently whetting our appetites alongside a few snippets of what we’re up to. Including docs, playlists, podcasts, books, events and recipes.
