TV Commercial
A social worker has the power to help so many people in so many different ways and that’s exactly what we needed to portray in this TV Commercial for We Care Wales.
Golley Slater, Cardiff-based Marketing Communications Agency, came to us with a script that detailed some of the many ways in which a social worker can make a difference. Our job was to bring that to life – but with one catch: we didn’t have production time to move to all the different locations we needed to visit. So we decided instead of going to the locations, we’d bring the locations to us…
Delving into the world of Virtual Production for the first time, we used a rear projector and plates (backgrounds) that were shot by a small crew before the main shoot day. Locations were also 3D scanned and brought into Blender where the light of each environment could be manipulated and tweaked to fit the look that we needed.

The plates and projection combined with a great performance from our actress, lighting from award-winning Gaffer, Mark Holownia of Firebug Lighting, and smooth camera movement, all to create a beautifully choreographed one shot video.
This approach also ensured our carbon footprint was kept to an absolute minimum, a priority on all our productions moving forward, but also meant we could stay warm and dry in the comfort of a studio.
